Gary Hamel notes in The Future of Management, "The real break on innovation is the drag of old mental models."
If this he sees this to be true in the business world I see it to be true in our churches as well. If there is anything positive to be taken from this it has to be that its not just a church issue as so many of my pastoral colleagues think.
Of course Hamel says the business world has to change its models and uses Whole Foods, Gore and Google as examples of three companies successfully doing things differently. What about the church, are there innovative models, churches working under new paradigms, that we could all learn from as we seek to do ministry in the 21st Century?
