This was a great year! Miss Ovens was my school teacher and she instilled in me a great love for ornithology. We took a trip out to the Copeland Islands to see the amazing bird life there.
I got a night off homework by being the only one in class willing to try and solve a really long, long division problem that she put on the board for us to tackle.
The summer of '77 was very warm and we vacationed in a caravan at Portballintrae it was fabulous. We would fly kites, play games and I would go fishing. One afternoon I was fishing off the harbor and hooked a large flatfish, it was probably about 4 pounds. I couldn't have been a happier young man. We cooked it and at it for dinner.
I have no negative memories from this year and can't think of any major sins I committed (although I'm sure there must have been!)
This year was the Queen's silver jubillee, so there were a lot of celebrations for that. It was a big deal that Virginia Wade won Wimbledon that year.
