Tonight we will be hosting our third annual neighborhood "Let's Give Party." Three years ago my wife, Jenny, came up with the brilliant idea that this would be a good time of year to get people thinking about giving rather than receiving, so she came up with the concept of a let's give party.
As with all parties this time of year there will be plenty of food, wine and beer but that's not what this party is about! About a dozen families in our neighborhood will come over this evening and the kids will have the opportunity to make scarves for the homeless that will distributed to SERVE as well as put together care kits full of items that homeless folk say they need. It will be an opportunity to help those less fortunate than ourselves in this season of giving.
Over the last couple of weeks its been very heartwarming to have our neighbors call to see what they could bring to contribute to the party. Water, soap, pens, paper, beef jerky, tissues, shampoo etc. for the care kits.
We will have lots of fund tonight and the world will perhaps be a little better because of it... the poor and homeless will be helped and the rich (us) will learn a little more about compassion and caring.
