Confusion?
You too can own a copy of this patriotic bible. It is known as the "Liberty Bible." You'll find it at Bibles.com a division of the American Bible Society.
I see it as yet another example of confusing God's word with American national identity.
Hi Neil,
AOL has a reprint of an article run in the NY Times about a pastor in Minn. who urged in June an end to sexual moralizing and military glorification and said America should not be proclaimed a "Christian nation." I think you might find the article interesting. Certainly this trend of trying to co-opt Christ for political ends is not ending anytime soon.

Whoops. Forgot to include the URL to the AOL article. http://articles.news.aol.com/news/_a/disowning-conservative-politics-is/20060729195809990004

Thanks for link to the AOL article. I find it disturbing that so many would leave a great congregation like Woodland Hills over this. Greg boyd is a passionate follower of Jesus, I have met him a few times and heard him preach on several others. While I don't agree with all his theology on this issue I'm right there with him.

Wow.
I read the NY Times article and a parishioner also gave me a copy after worship. It was interesting in that she works for the State Department and defends the administration as a Christian example. Maybe she's rethinking this. (I have been re-thinking it for a while.)
